Terms of use
Last updated 18 October 2026
These terms apply when you download or use Show-Overlay, or use this website. By downloading or using Show-Overlay, you accept them.
Who you're dealing with
Louis Haywood, an individual based in the United Kingdom. hello@louishaywood.uk.
Postal address: 229 Castle Lane, Solihull, B92 8SW, United Kingdom.
Your licence
Show-Overlay is free. You may install it on as many Macs as you like and use it for any purpose, including paid and commercial work. You are given a licence to use the app; you don't own it, and copyright in it stays with Louis Haywood.
You may not:
- sell, rent or sublicense Show-Overlay, or charge for it;
- distribute modified copies, or remove its copyright notices;
- decompile or reverse engineer it, except where the law allows this;
- suggest that you made it, or that it is endorsed by anyone it isn't.
If you want to share Show-Overlay, please share a link to this website rather than the file, so people get the current version from the right place.
Recording performances
Show-Overlay gives you the means to record, but not the right to. Before recording a performance, rehearsal or anyone else's work, you are responsible for making sure you're allowed to. That can include:
- the licence for the show, which often limits or forbids recording, even for archive use;
- the rights in the music, script, choreography and design;
- agreements with performers, creative teams and their unions, such as Equity or the Musicians' Union;
- the venue's rules; and
- telling people they're being recorded, and handling the recordings in line with data protection law.
Not a show control or safety system
The overlay shows the data Show-Overlay receives from your console and show control. If the network is slow or drops, that data can be late, missing or wrong. Don't rely on Show-Overlay to run a show, to call cues, or for anything where safety depends on it.
A recording can fail for reasons outside the app's control, such as a full disk, a camera being unplugged or the Mac going to sleep. If a recording matters, keep a backup.
Provided as it is
Show-Overlay is free and comes with no warranty. It is provided as it is, without any promise that it will be free of faults, work without interruption or suit your purpose.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited or excluded by law. Apart from that, Louis Haywood is not liable for loss of recordings or other data, loss of profit, business or opportunity, or any indirect loss arising from using or not being able to use Show-Overlay or this website.
None of this affects your statutory rights.
Updates
Show-Overlay checks this website for updates and offers to install them; see the privacy policy for what that involves. Updates are signed, and the app only installs ones signed by Louis Haywood. Development may stop at any time. If it does, copies you already have will keep working.

The website is for information. It may change, or be unavailable, without notice. Links to other sites are provided for convenience, and Louis Haywood isn't responsible for their content.
Ending it
You can stop using Show-Overlay at any time by deleting it. Your licence ends automatically if you break these terms.

These terms may be updated, and the date at the top of the page will change when they are. The terms in force when you download a version apply to that version.
