Console discovery
Finds Eos and QLab on the network. If the connection to the desk drops, it reconnects.
Show-Overlay records your stage cameras and puts the live Eos cues, QLab cues, timecode, your own OSC fields and a watermark on the picture. When you watch it back, you can see which cue was running at any moment.
You can drag the widgets in this picture.
Plug in a camera and open the app. It looks for Eos and QLab on the network by itself.
Finds Eos and QLab on the network. If the connection to the desk drops, it reconnects.
Each camera records to its own file with its own label, and all of them show the same cue data. Sound is recorded with the main camera.
Put each widget where you want it and save the arrangement as a layout. Switch layouts with a click or over OSC.
Each cue shows its list and number. In a multipart cue, every part has its own bar that fills as it fades, with a countdown in milliseconds. If you stop a cue on the desk, its bar stops too.
Each recording is saved with a CSV file, which opens in any spreadsheet app, listing every cue, part and marker with its recording time and timecode. You can use it to find a moment in the recording without scrubbing through it.
Send the finished picture over NDI to a vision mixer or OBS. NDI needs the NDI runtime on the Mac, which comes with the free NDI Tools. Anyone on the same network can also watch the picture in a web browser.
Show any OSC address on the picture with your own label, for example a sound cue labelled “Sound”. You can also start and stop recording, add markers and change layouts over OSC from QLab or Companion.
The app checks for new versions and installs one when you click Install Update. Updates are signed, and the app only installs updates signed by the developer.
Show-Overlay isn't notarised by Apple yet, so the first launch needs an extra step.
Download Show-Overlay and open the zip file.
Drag Show-Overlay into your Applications folder.
Open Show-Overlay. When macOS says it can't be opened, click Done. Then go to System Settings › Privacy & Security, scroll down, click Open Anyway and confirm.
Allow access to the camera, and to the microphone if you're recording sound.
macOS blocks apps that aren't signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarised by Apple until you allow them in System Settings. You only need to do this once. After that, Show-Overlay opens normally and updates install without the extra step.
Turn on Third Party OSC in the menu below. Show-Overlay then finds the console automatically.
